12 Workplace Safety Influencers to Follow Right Now

 If you want to to stay up to date on the latest in workplace safety, here are twelve workplace safety influencers to follow on Twitter. We've curated this list based on the quality of their tweets, frequency and a subjective feeling of "yeah, these folks get it right."   

  1. Pam Walaski is the Director of Health and Safety at GAI Consultants. Based in Pittsburg, PA, Pam specializes in  program evaluation and development, program audits, risk and crisis communications and employee training. She’s been on Twitter since 2008 and has over 4,500 tweets @safetypam 
  2. Marc Bianco is an Occupational Health and Safety Consultant, OSHA Trainer and Workplace Safety Specialist, and OSHA and PEC Safety Master Instructor. Based in Boston, MA, Marc is an Executive Vice President of Technical Services at United Alliance. With a modest 400 some tweets Marc has accumulated a huge following since joining Twitter in 2012 @OccuSafe mainly by posting workplace safety job opportunities and relevant articles.
  3. Jordan Barab, a former OSHA Deputy Assistant Secretary, is now the author of Confined Space: Newsletter of Health & Safety & Labor Issues. (Link to newsletter here). Since joining in 2010, Jordan has amassed a huge following no doubt thanks to his prolific tweeting habits. His consistent engagement has him tweeting and retweeting breaking news health and safety stories every couple of hours @jbarab.
  4. Kevin Burns is a management consultant and speaker from Calgary, Canada. He’s also the author of PeopleWork: The Human Touch in Workplace Safety.  Many of his posts are connected to his blog posts and other sources, mainly focusing on tips on how to implement safety in the workplace.   5. Abby Ferri is the founder of The Ferri Group and a practical yet creative safety professional. She is incredibly active in the industry and professional associations like the ASSP, and works tirelessly to increase diversity among safety professionals. We interviewed her on the Corvex blog last spring and continue to follow her work @theferrigroup. 
  6. Rodd Wagner is a leading authority on collaboration and employee performance. His thought leadership focuses on how human nature affects business strategy. Wagner is a New York Times bestselling author and contributor to Forbes.  He will keynote the  ASSP’s 2018 Leadership Conference this fall and tweets @Rodd_Wagner
  7. Yorlanda Fisher  is the founder of Warriors 4 Safety, an online resource for safety professionals and those interested in workplace safety and OSHA accepted training. Based in Texas, Yorlanda is also a EHS Specialist Contractor. Her strong follower base @Warriors4Safety  is no doubt thanks her consistent postings a couple times every day on late-breaking safety related news stories.
  8. Darryl Hill is Vice President of Safety & Health Officer for ABB, Inc., North America, as well as a lecturer on Environmental Health & Safety at Oakland University. He also currently serves on the Board of Directors for the American Society of Safety Engineers. Professor Hill is editor and contributing author for the best-selling textbook, Construction Safety Management & Engineering. He doesn’t post daily, but when he does post, he posts high-quality content and resources for those interested in workplace safety @DrDCH 
  9. Andrew Cooper is a certified Health and Safety Consultant, Professional Member of Canadian Society of Safety Engineering, and an International Member of the American Society of Safety Professionals. He’s also the acting Director of Environment, Health, and Safety at the University of Alberta. Andrew posts workplace safety articles and news stories  @safetyforge
  10. Michael Ellerby  is a health and safety, food safety and fire safety consultant with LRB Consulting Limited. With a wide range of safety knowledge and over 27 thousand tweets, @safety_matters is a great resource for those interested in workplace safety. He consistently posts safety newsletters, news stories, and about what he’s personally working on in the safety world. 
  11. Dave Foy is a Health & Safety Manager at Preston College, and mentions he's committed to practical and sensible safety. He mixes his workplace safety tweets with his own funny thoughts, often not related to safety, to keep his followers engaged. Follow Dave for humor and strong workplace safety content @dfoy2
  12. Susan Main writes for her blog Speaking Of Safety that she began back in 2010. Main is a Vancouver-based writer who has talked health and safety with hundreds of people in different industries. Her blog and tweets @SpeakinOfSafety center around conversations about health and safety, delivering the topics in an easy to understand manner for people both in and out of the industry.
